Customize Firefox Menus Using Menu Editor Extension
Have you ever wanted to modify Firefox main context-menu so that you can remove some of the useless or redundant commands from it? Although it is subjective of what you consider as useless(or less useful) but still there are some commands that not many people are going to use on a regular basis and mostly you can access them through main menu-bar or toolbar of the Firefox interface.
Fore example I am happy to live without these commands in my Firefox main context-menu to make it smaller and cleaner(and also to accommodate some useful context-menu items from other extension that I have installed):
- Send Image
- Open Link in New Window
- Bookmark This Link…
- Save Link As…
- Send Link…
- Backword
- Forward
- Reload
- Stop
- and some others…
If you are like me and want to clean-up you Firefox main context-menu then you will like Menu Editor Firefox extension that allows to modify Firefox menus (not just context-menu ) and disable visibility of the menu-items that you select. As a bonus you can re-organize menu-items in more logical manner as they make sense to you. Splitters can also be inserted to group menu-items. Although you can modify any menu using it, but it is most useful to tidy-up the main context-menu of Firefox.
I have used this extension to disable some useless context-menu items added by some other Firefox extensions as well that I am using(some extensions may provide option in preferences to disable context-menu items that they add). Take a look at my modified(read cleaned-up) Firefox 3.0 context-menu:
Note that officially this extension is not compatible with Firefox 3.0 betas and you will need to use Nightly Tester Tools to force compatibility.
You can get this extension from official Firefox extension website here.
