Google has released a preview SDK of the its hottest upcoming Android mobile OS version called Honeycomb. Honeycomb will also be the first Android that will tablet friendly. Included API’s are still not finalized yet but they are enough to get developers an initial feel of the environment and get their hands dirty on the mobile OS that will be in full swing in just a few months from now on.
One of the new features is the Bluetooth API’s for streaming audio and ability to control a tablet from the Bluetooth headset. There is new UI framework for larger displays including support for Honeycomb widgets, themes, notifications, and drag and drop functionality. In addition support is included for dual core processors and enhanced 2D and 3D graphics support.
In addition, Google SDK website reveals some interesting details on the Honeycomb for the users of the OS. According to these details keyboard in the Android is redesigned to make it more comfortable to type on large screen devices. Which in addition to the new layout also includes new keys such as Tab. Honeycomb also includes completely redesigned camera, gallery, contacts, email, and web browser apps! New revamped browser now supports tabs as well as new incognito mode for private browsing experience! Enhanced camera application makes it easy to adjust focus, flash, and exposure features. Finally, contact and email apps support 2-pane view.
