Now it’s official! Sony has finally unveiled the spiritual successor to the PSP(PlayStation Portable) mobile gaming platform in Japan. The device for which we have seen significant buzz around the net with all the floating rumors has indeed pretty impressive specifications to the say the least and it is code named NGP . Some of the most notable features of Sony’s now premiere offering in terms of mobile gamming platform includes an all new 5 inch OLED multi-touch display (with 960 x 544 resolution), dual analog sticks, accelerometer / gyroscope motion sensing, in addition an other back-side touch display, Wi-Fi, 3G connectivity (as we reported earlier) in addition to the Bluetooth support and built-in GPS support. NGP is powered by a potent quad code Cortex A9 CPU. And for supporting next generation 3D games on the mobile platform SGX543MP4+ GPU is integrated. In addition, Sony has ditched the UMD discs in favor of the new flash based cards that will store the game content as well as well add-on content and serve the double duty as a memory card. Another exciting thing is the front and rear-side camera!
According to the PlayStation Blog following games are confirmed to be under development for the NGP:
