ios421 pwnagetool | PwnageTool 4.2 Released – Includes Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 Devices and iBooks FixPwnageTool is a well known tool for Mac OS X that allows to create custom IPSW for the iOS. Now iPhone Dev-Team has now updated it to include an untethered jailbreak for all the iOS based devices such as iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and IPhone 4. Untethered jailbreak tweak that is incorporated is based on the exploit revealed last week by Chronic Dev-Team called “feedface”. In other words now current iPhone unlockers can safely restore to a custom 4.2.1 IPSW and keep their current baseband and unlock. PwnageTool supports the following iOS devices:

  • iPhone3G
  • iPhone3GS
  • iPhone4
  • iPhone4-Verizon
  • iPod touch 3G
  • iPod touch 4G
  • iPad
  • AppleTV 2G

PwnageTool 4.2 also includes two very recent improvements, first is the iBooks fix that was discovered by the @comex that should fix the problems with the DRMed books. Other is the Wi-Fi problem on AppleTV 2G that was fixed by @nitotv, @DHowett, and @saurik. According to the iPhone Dev-Team blog these fixes will also be available in Cydia as update packages. So users that have already jailbroken their devices should wait for their arrival rather than to restore and jailbreak again.
