Chrometa is a time tracking software that might be useful to you if you are interested to track the time spent in specific applications at your office, or as freelancer to charge money later on from the clients based on hourly rate for example. Or may be you are just curious to know the time that you spent(waste) on the computer browsing Internet, or perhaps on Skype or Facebook, gaming etc. This is a perfect tool for any of these tasks or many other tasks with the similar objectives. Real strength of the tool is in the fact that it does all this time-tracking in completely automated manner without any user intervention or manual entry from him.

Only catch up-till now was that this application was available for a hefty charge of $99. Good news now is that this application can be downloaded from the developer’s website for free for personal use! Also fill out a very simple form on their website with your name and email address etc. and a license key will emailed to your address that can be used to unlock the software. There is a nice tutorial available about the software usage available here. Although, I think the GUI is pretty straightforward and there is not really any need for a guidance to grasp the interface.

In developer’s own words:

Chrometa tracks and categorizes how you spend time on your computer, without the hassle of data entry. At the end of the day, week, or month, you can reference the timesheets Chrometa has recorded for you to revisit how you’ve spent your time.

It should be mentioned that it requires Java to be installed on the system before it can run. It currently runs on Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Chrometa can be downloaded here.

Seems really effective and absolute time tracking software. Its been figured out that the time tracking software has the utmost aspects of time management in the industry. Better way of time tracking always seems to have invoicing and billing options which helps manage the clients with accuracy in terms of the deal. A better time tracking as per me is the time tracking software from Replicon – that is cloud based with multiple features and functionalities with whole lots of advanced and technical aspects of time tracking. Being automated this time tracking software manages to keep track of the time and bill to the clients accordingly.
