avast thumb | Avast! 6 Final Version Available for Free Download Introduces SandboxA while ago, we ran a feature on top ten free antivirus software for windows 7. If you remember, Avast ranked in the middle on that list. However, things may be changing now with releases of official version of Avast 6 which has improved drastically.

As in the previous beta release, Avast 6 features an interesting new feature called Sandbox. What that does is that if any content is suspicious, it will be run in sandbox, a protected environment, where no harm can be done to the OS or your precious data.

This mode is really great if you have downloaded files from the internet which you trust to be authentic, but not so much that you would run them if your antivirus gives a warning. Now you can try them out in this sandbox mode first. Really useful I say !

One other major addition is the web rep tool, which gives reputation to the websites you visit, letting beginners know if a site could be holding malicious content. You can download free version of Avast for Windows XP, Vista or 7 on the official site.
