Few days ago I was reading news that people are selling bootable SD cards for Nook Color for Nookie Froyo and Honeycomb for upto $100. Now you can make bootable SD card for your Nook color running Nookie Froyo using this guide. If you are using windows based operating system please click here for complete guide on how to make Android Froyo bootable SD card for Nook Color using windows.

-Nook Color

-2gb or larger capacity SD card

-USB SD card reader

-Latest version Virtual Image of Nookie Froyo for Nook color device. Extract the image using winrar or 7-zip.

Now follow the instructions:

Step 1: Launch terminal window and locate your SD card drive. You can do that by typing the “diskutil list” command in terminal window. Please be cautious in doing so and make sure that you choose the right SD card drive.

Step 2: In this step you need to unmount the SD card drive. To do that you need to type the following command in the terminal window “diskutil unmountDisk /dev/disk#”. In this command replace the # sign with the disk number of the drive. Your terminal window should prompt “Unmount of all volumes on disk was successful”

Step 3: Now you will type the command to write the latest version Virtual Image of Nookie Froyo for Nook color device on your SD card. Type “dd if= nookie-froyo-SDIMAGE_2GB-0.6.7.img of=/dev/rdisk# bs=1m” in the terminal window replacing the # sign with the disk number of the drive. Wait for about 10 minutes and Nookie Froyo for Nook color will be written on your SD card.

Step 4: Safely remove the SD card from the computer. Now, Power off your Nook Color and slide the SD card into the Nook. Turn on your Nook Color and it should load Android Froyo 2.2.

Now you can use Nook Color as Android Foroyo 2.2 tablet. Don’t forget that you can run Android Honeycomb through bootable SD card on your Nook color, click her for guide to run honeycomb from SD card. If you are planning to root your Nook color device please click here.
