So it has been confirmed by multiple news sites, that Samsung Galaxy S2, also known as SII, will come in two different flavors. Originally, it was rumored to feature Samsung’s own Exynos processor. However, recent reports point that there will be builds of Galaxy S2 (SII) featuring NVidia’s Tegra 2 processor. In case you are not familiar, Samsung Galaxy S2 (SII) is the premier Android smartphone to be released this year.
It appears that this is mainly related to the supply of the Exynos processor. Samsung is estimated to almost quadruple the production of Exynos, however, more than half of it is reserved for Apple, rumored for the upcoming iPhone 5. And in order to match the overwhelming demand of Galaxy S2 (SII), Samsung has decided to also ship a version using NVidia’s Tegra 2 processor. It appears that the US and UK will receive the Tegra 2 version, also known as GT-i9103 and rest of the world will receive the Exynos version named as GT-i9100. And this might be the way to differentiate between these 2 versions. It is also possible than since there are numerous carriers in US which will offer Samsung Galaxy S2 (SII), some may offer the Tegra 2 versions whereas the others may go with Exynos.
