Jailbreak iOS 4.3 using Sn0wbreeze 2.3b1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch and iPad [Step-by-Step Guide]

We have already posted a guide on how to use Sn0wbreeze 2.2 to do a un-tethered jailbreak for your iOS devices. We have also reported the release of the PwnageTool 4.2 for the Mac that allows to jailbreak iOS while preserving the baseband on your device to do an unlock later-on probably using Ultrasn0w. Now Sn0wbreeze 2.3b1 is also available from ih8sn0w that is basically a PwnageTool for the Windows users! Following devices are supported in this version of the Sn0wbreeze:

  • iPhone 3G/3GS/4
  • iPod Touch 2G/3G/4
  • iPad

Here is the guide on the usage of the Sn0wbreeze 2.3b1:

Step 1: Download the Sn0wbreeze 2.3b1 software.

Step 2. Download stock iOS 4.3 FW from following locations.

- iPhone 4

- iPhone 3GS

- iPod touch 3rd gen

- iPod touch 4th gen

- iPad

Step 3: Connect your iOS device to the system.

Step 4: Now launch the Sn0wbreeze and you will see a splash screen. Just skip this screen  by pressing the blue arrow at the bottom.

Step 5: Now it will prompt you to select the iOS 4.3 FW that you have downloaded in the Step 2. Now browse and select that.

Step 6: Now it will present you with a choice either to choose a Simple or an Expert mode. Choose the Expert mode here and continue.

Step 7: Now there is an opportunity to customize the FW. So just click on the General and on the blue arrow to continue to the next screen.

Step 8: Now on the screen that appears you have a choice of installing a number of tweaks such as animated bootlogos, openSSH installation, native backgrounding support, user wallpaper and battery percentage etc. After you are done press the blue arrow to continue.

Step 9: Now Sn0wbreeze will create the custom FW based on the choices that you made. It takes some time such as 5 to 10 minutes depending upon the computer speed. You don’t need to do anything here.

Step 10: Now firmware is ready but you need to put your device in DFU mode. Follow the on screen instructions to do so.

Step 11: Now launch the iTunes and it will tell you that it found a device in recovery mode. Press ok.

Step 12: Now in the iTunes hold down the Shift key and press the Restore button and iTunes will initiate the installation process for the custom FW that you have just cooked. It will take some time – wait for this.

Step 13: Now finally you are DONE!

Since this is a tethered JB so in order to boot into tethered boot mode, you will use iBooty 2.0 utility which is put on your desktop by Sn0wbreeze 2.3b1.

Step 1: Execute the iBooty.exe file and wait for disclaimer to disappear on screen.

Step 2: Now select your Device from drop down menu. Click on Start and follow on screen instructions on how to put your device in a DFU mode.

Step 3: After your device is in DFU mode iBooty will start uploading payload.

Step 4: iBooty will display done message upload successful boot. That’s all and your jailbroken iPhone on iOS 4.3 can boot into tethered boot mode ready for use.
