After it’s release Apple iPad 2 is selling like hotcakes as you might expect from any Apple product. However, great sales of iPad 2 are not without the fact that it is great product in very slim and lightweight package and much more polished successor of the original iPad. This is also one of the reasons that it’s getting great reviews all around the web. However, there are people that have some specific questions about the iPad 2 such as specs, price points, jailbreaking status etc. And they want them to be answered before they shell out there hard earned money on this shiny new gadget from Apple. For those folks Jawcl at iFan forums has compiled a very nice list of FAQS. See for yourself:

Q: What CPU does it have?
A: The iPad 2 has an A5 dual core 1 Ghz chip.

Q: How much RAM does the iPad 2 have?
A: The iPad 2 has 512 MB of RAM according to Engadget’s Geekbench tests.

Q: How much is it?
A: In the US:

$499 for 16 GB
$599 for 32 GB
$699 for 64 GB

WiFi + 3G:
$629 for 16 GB
$729 for 32 GB
$829 for 64 GB

Q: What carriers will it be on?
A: The iPad 2 will be available on both AT&T and Verizon’s networks. Data plans are currently unknown.

Q: What are the dimensions and weight of the iPad 2?
A: It is 8.8mm thick, and measures 241.2 by 185.7mm.
It weighs 601g for the Wi-Fi version and 613g for the 3G alternative.
This means that it is 33% thinner and up to 15% lighter than its predecessor. (thanks to iamanipoduser for this Q and A)

Q: How many megapixels are the cameras?
A: The front facing camera has video recording up to 30 frames per second with audio. The back camera has 5x zoom and is thought to be the same as the iPod touch 4G’s camera. Only a teardown will tell. But if this is true, those cameras are terrible and the resolution is ugly.

Q: Does it come in white and black?
A: Yes, according to Apple it is supposed to ship in both colors.

Q: Does it have a retina display as rumored?
A: No, there is no retina display in the iPad 2 as the rumors said. Wait until next year if you wanted one.

Q: How long does the battery last?
A: Its the same as the first generation iPad, 10 hours.

Q: What version of iTunes is required?
A: Please update or download iTunes 10.2 to use your iPad 2.

Q: Can it be jailbroken?
A: Ah, big question. Well, nobody knows for sure yet. I’ll update this when one of the dev teams gets their hands on one and releases a jailbreak or tells us whats up.

Q: Does it support 4G LTE on Verizon’s network?
A: No, Apple has not added this technology to the device yet. Wait until the next one if you wanted it.

Q: Where can I find more information on the iPad 2?
A: You can find more information at Apple’s iPad 2 page: http://www.apple.com/ipad/

Q: What version of iOS does it run?
A: iOS 4.3.

Q: Whats a "Smart Cover"?
A: A Smart Cover is Apple’s new cover for the iPad 2. Instead of a full case they just have a cover for the screen that clips on easily and magnetizes with the screen. It also sleeps and wakes the iPad 2 automatically. Learn more about them here.

Q: Does the iPad 2 do FaceTime?
A: Yes, it can FaceTime with any Mac or iOS device supporting FaceTime (Macs with webcams and the iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G).

Q: What is different from my iPad 1 aside from cameras and form factor?
A: The iPad 2 will (more like already) have apps and features that the iPad 1 can’t support, it holds more tabs/pages in Safari, and it runs all your 3D games a lot smoother. – credit on this goes to buhamutspirit.

Q: What is NOT different from the iPad 1?
A: General UI performance, Safari scrolling and navigating feel, laggy while low on memory (yes, you can still tax 512MB that much), simple games (Angry Birds just don’t get any better!), and general UI look. – again thanks to buhamutspirit who had hands on for both models.
