In case you just want to upgrade to iOS 4.3 FW but without the jailbreaking but want to preserve the Baseband to unlock later on say with Ultrasn0w, then this guide is perfect for you.
Now Sn0wbreeze 2.3 is also available from ih8sn0w that is basically a PwnageTool for the Windows users! Following devices are supported in this version of the Sn0wbreeze:
Here is the guide on the usage of the Sn0wbreeze 2.3b1 to upgrade to the iOS 4.3 while preserving the baseband of the supported device:
Step 2. Download stock iOS 4.3 FW from following locations.
- iPhone 4
Step 3: Connect your iOS device to the system.
Step 4: Now launch the Sn0wbreeze and you will see a splash screen. Just skip this screen by pressing the blue arrow at the bottom.
Step 5: Now it will prompt you to select the iOS 4.3 FW that you have downloaded in the Step 2. Now browse and select that. After Sn0wbreeze identify the selected IPSW file then click the next blue arrow to proceed.
Step 6: Now it will present you with a choice either to choose a Simple or an Expert mode Baseband Preservation Mode. Choose the “Baseband Preservation Mode” here and continue.
Step 7: Now Sn0wbreeze will create the custom FW based on the choices that you made. It takes some time such as 5 to 10 minutes depending upon the computer speed. You don’t need to do anything here.
Step 8: Now firmware is ready but you need to put your device in DFU mode. Follow the on screen instructions to do so.
Step 9: Now launch the iTunes and it will tell you that it found a device in recovery mode. Press ok.
Step 10: Now in the iTunes hold down the Shift key and press the Restore button and iTunes will initiate the installation process for the custom iOS 4.3 FW that you have just cooked. It will take some time – wait for this.
Step 11: Now finally you are DONE! Enjoy the upgrade to the iOS 4.3 while preserving your current baseband.
