Nexus S is the second Android based smartphone released by the technology giant Google (a successor to the Nexus One). It was released in the end of the last year, and generally got positive reviews by the experts for being the first phone in the industry to support Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and also the first one to support the NFC technology. Here is your simple guide for rooting this latest Google phone:
Step 1: Download the Superboot.zip file to your computer.
Step 2: Connect your device to the computer, and put it in bootloader mode. You can do so by turning off the device and then turning on by pressing and holding both ‘power’ and ‘volume up’ button.
Step 3: After this extract Superboot.zip using WinRAR or another software and execute ‘install-superboot-windows.bat’.
Step 4: Done! Your Nexus S device is now rooted!
Now, coming to the overclocking part once you have a rooted device you can download one of the custom kernels called Trinity Max available at the XDA developer’s forum. Trinity Max will allow to overclock Nexus S on a 1.2GHz, 1.3GHz, 1.4GHz, 1.5GHz or 1.6GHz level. You can flash these custom kernel on your device in the recovery mode.
