Last week we reported the release of the iOS 4.3.1 then later on presented a guide on how to do a tethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4 on the iOS 4.3.1. Then we posted a step-by-step guide for iPad owners as iOS 4.3.1 has been jailbroken for these users as well as a guide for the iPod Touch 4G users and iPhone 3GS users (both old and new Bootrom) to get a tethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.1!

But all of that was for a tethered JB. Today finally Sn0wbreeze 2.5 is released by ih8sn0w that allows to do a untethered jailbreak for all iOS 4.3.1 iDevices on Windows (except iPad 2)! Untether jailbreaking is achieved by using the exploit provided by the Stefan Esser that we reported earlier.

Note 1: If you are on a Mac then follow the instruction in this guide: Untethered Jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 & on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 3G/4G and iPad using PwnageTool 4.3.

Note 2: If your phone is not dependent on a carrier unlock then we suggest to instead follow the instructions on our guide – Untethered Jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 3G/4G and iPad using Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC9.

Please make note of the following before proceeding any further:

  • iPhone 3GS users can upgrade to 06.15.00 baseband now under Unlocks section in Expert.
  • Upgrading your iPhone 3GS baseband to the 06.15.00 iPad baseband hack to unlock MAY cause you to lose your GPS!
  • This guide uses the iPhone 3GS as the example but the procedure is the same for all other iDevices.
  • This version will not achieve untethered JB for the iPad 2!
  • In Sn0wbreeze 2.5 you also have the option to enable the multi-gestures (checked by default) for iOS 4.3.1!

Following devices are supported in this version of the Sn0wbreeze:

  • iPhone 3G/3GS/4
  • iPod Touch 2G/3G/4
  • iPad

Step 11: Now launch the iTunes and it will tell you that it found a device in recovery mode. Press ok.

Step 12: Now in the iTunes hold down the Shift key and press the Restore button and iTunes will initiate the installation process for the custom iOS 4.3.1 FW that you have just cooked. It will take some time – wait for this.

Step 13: Now finally you are DONE! No need to do any tethered booting anymore!
