award winning | New NOOK Color v1.2 Firmware Update Froyo With Apps, Email and Flash Support Rolling Out…

We heard some rumors flying around the net starting from yesterday that Barnes & Nobel is going to release a significantly updated firmware for the Nook Color. Well, these rumors turned out to be true and now we have a major update of the FW in the form of Nook Color v1.2 that you can get right now here. Major new features include the Android Froyo, flash support, new email application and some other tablet centric enhancements. Of course, there is also a selected set of new applications for you eReader. Some of the applications and games that are available from today are Epicurious, Pulse, Springpad, my6sense, QuickOffice, and …. Angry Birds. Well, the list of the newly introduced applications for now is short but at least it is better than nothing. And for sure it does add some more value to owning this popular eReader. Don’t expect the usual large array of applications that are available on the Android Market to be available yet officially. In other words, the long list of hacks that we mentioned in the past for your Nook Color still remains very useful! So don’t forget to check these out. In any case this is an impressive update. In particular, for some people new Email client might be the reason enough to justify the update.

Head over to the Barnes & Noble’s website to see the complete list of new features included in this firmware update.
