I guess, it is just a week ago we reported that iPhone has the constant habit of tracking your location data and caching it on the phone. After the synchronization with the iTunes this location data file is even moved to a PC, where it can easily processed by anyone to locate the complete history of the user movement in the past. It is expected that iOS 4.3.3 might be coming in two weeks to fix this user tracking issue. Well, we will see on that … we are waiting and will report you on that as soon as some more news popup on that front. If you don’t like waiting and want to disable this extremely disturbing habit of iPhone you can completely disable it by using an application for the jailbroken iPhone as we reported recently. But, it is only if you DO have a jailbroken phone. If not then you might want to head over to the Jailbreaking section on our website to have a look for the latest guides for the procedure.

Well, soon after this drama it was revealed that iPhone is NOT the only one that is in this habit of privacy violations, as Android and Windows Phone 7 devices are also doing it! But soon after as it was the case for the iPhone an application is available in the Android market that will allow to disable user location tracking permanently in the device. I am referring to a nice app called Location Cache that you can download for free right now from the Market. In addition, it can also empty the cache (but will not block it). Another notable feature include viewing the location data on the Map (see the figure above).
I think this application is a worthwhile download for any Android user who is concerned about his privacy.
