Speed Dial is one of the many useful features included in the Google Chrome apart from it’s lightening fast startup and page rendering speed. However, I do feel that it is not as customizable as Firefox to a users preferences. In particular, many of the Google Chrome features (or of any other web browser) can be included in Firefox using 3rd party Firefox extensions. Take an example of the Chrome’s speed dial feature for today, it is one of the most touted and of course useful features of that browser. But you can get the same functionality in Firefox using an extension called Sugestron Speed Dial. Of course, this is not the only extension that can bring this functionality to the Firefox as previously we covered some other extensions as well that can be more or less considered a replacement for this feature in Firefox. However, the beauty of the Sugestron Speed Dial lies in it’s simplicity.
Sugestron Speed Dial is a very simple Firefox extension allowing you to access the 8 websites you have most visited recently right from a new tab page. Some of the features included in this extension are as follows:
Automatically filled based on your navigation
Open one of the websites using Ctrl + [number of slot position] shortcut.
Websites can be fixed to a position using the green pin button in the speed dial interface, or by clicking with your mouse right button when visiting a website and choosing "Add to speed dial…" to select a slot where it should be fixed.
Remove a website from speed dial by clicking the red button.
You can get the Sugestron Speed Dial for Firefox 3.x and Firefox 4.x from Mozilla Firefox add-ons website.
