Frightening: FaceNiff For Android Allows to Hack Facebook, Twitter, YouTube Accounts on Local Wi-Fi!

FaceNiff is frightening dangerous application for the Android (if it comes to the hands of wrong minded person). This is because it allows the user to track all the data packets going through the local Wi-Fi network and sniff the passwords of innocent Facebook, Twitter or YouTube users once they login, and assuming they are on the same network. In essence this is a packet sniffer along the same lines as the popular Wireshark, however the thing that makes it unique is that it is unbelievably simple to use and only sniffs the login traffic on the local Wi-Fi network. So, even noobs can use it comprise the innocent user accounts using FaceNiff. And you know this app is available for free!

It even works on WPA2 the most powerful encryption usually used on Wi-Fi routers these days.

It is possible to hijack sessions only when WiFi is not using EAP, but it should work over any private networks (Open/WEP/WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK)
It’s kind of like Firesheep for android. Maybe a bit easier to use (and it works on WPA2!).

This apk is limited to use only 3 hijacked profiles, if you want more – there will be an option to buy unlock code through paypal.

This really gives us a good incentive to turn on the HTTPS mode on the web services that we use such as Facebook as well as Google services to avoid the hacking attempts from the powerful tools like FaceNiff. Another, alternative to avoid these kind of privacy attacks is to use a VPN service to connect to the network. This application requires the phone to be rooted first. After that you can download the application from here. Please don’t use this application for any negative purpose, developer has also mentioned “for educational purposes only”.

Here is a demo video to show the FaceNiff in action!

You can download the FaceNiff for Android from the official website for free.
