From some sources on the Internet, news is coming that Apple has removed the multi-touch (multitasking) gestures from the newly released iOS 5 for the iPad 1 users. So, they are now available only for the iPad 2 users. Multi-touch gestures include the 4 or 5 finger gestures to return to the Home screen, swiping between the running apps or revealing the taskbar – all by using the 4 or 5 five finger gestures.
However, if you are on the iPad 1 with the iOS 5 beta installed, you still have hope to enable them. Method to enable multi-touch or multitask gestures is not difficult in itself, but requires that you have already jailbroken your iPad 1 on the iOS5 before attempting this hack. After jailbreaking all you have to do is use an application that allows to do the browsing in the file system of the iOS. For example, you can use the iFile from Cydia, or use the SSH to login to your iPad device to do so. Afterwards navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app and open the K848AP.plist file. Then add the following:
This should enable the multitasking four or five finger gestures on your original iPad 1!
