HTC Sensation is once of the most powerful mobile device released by HTC this year and considered by many as one of the best Android based device to get right along the Samsung Galaxy S2 (SII). You might be interested in detailed head to head comparison of the key features and strengths of the HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S2 (SII) that we did some time ago. In this guide we will cover a method to S-OFF the HTC Sensation 4G using the Revolutionary utility. If you are wondering basically S-OFF will unlock the bootloader and allow to install the ClockworkMod Recovery that can be used later on to install all kinds of custom ROMs on your HTC Sensation device as well make a complete backup of the currently installed ROM with the current state intact to restore later if required. It can also be used to flash the custom designed zip files through the recovery menu.

XDA forum member named xl VipeR lx has provided a detailed method on how to S-OFF your HTC Sensation. Here are the steps as provided by him on the original thread:

Step 1: First download the Revolutionary utility from the http://revolutionary.io/ for your operating system. Then fill out the details for the operating system, HBoot version, your device and serial no. and then get the generated key. Note it!

Step 2: Now extract and run the revolutionary that you downloaded earlier and then it should be able to find your device.

Step 3: Now with your phone switched on put the USB cable in and select the HTC Sync mode (ignore any error message on your phone at this point in time).

Step 4: Now execute the revolutionary utility and it will ask for the beta key. Just copy and paste the key that you noted earlier.

Step 5: After entering the key you just need to follow any on screen prompts and soon you will have your device with S-OFF!

If you get in to any trouble head over to the relevant thread at the XDA forums to diagnose the possible problems and solutions.
