There is some really interesting piece of information that passed my eyes. A few weeks back Samsung announced a new 1/2.3-inch 16 megapixel sensor based on the CMOS technology named S5K2P1. In addition to the ridiculously high megapixel count on this new sensor another interesting inclusion is the BSI (Backside Illumination Technology) that should allow it to perform really well in the low light conditions. BSI is the same technology that you might remember from the newly released iPhone 4S camera. Another interesting point is that this 16MP sensor is optimized for use in mobile phones cameras.
This leads us to think that Samsung might very well go to include this 16MP CMOS sensor in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 (SIII) that is going to be released next year. Of course, this is just a rumor but there is a certain possibility for this. Other features of the S5K2P1 sensor include support for a native 16:9 format video at up to 8.3Mp resolution at 60 frames per second and maximum 16 Megapixel-resolution for point-and-shoot images at 30 frames per second without shutter lag effect. Also S5K2P1 delivers excellent sensitivity and low-noise performances. This CMOS sensor should go to mass production in November this year. From also this aspect by the time Samsung Galaxy S3 (SIII) comes next year this powerful 16MP sensor will be ready to be included in the SGS3 if Samsung decides to do so.
Earlier we told you that according to the leaked information Samsung Galaxy S III (S3) will be revealed at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona and this will be Samsung flagship device in 2012 just like we have Galaxy S2 as a flagship device from Samsung in 2011. According to the current information Samsung Galaxy S III (S3) will support a quad-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz and 1.5 GB of RAM. Device will have 32GB of internal on-board memory and still SDcard slot will be supported. Samsung Galaxy S III (S3) will come with a gigantic 4.65-inch screen size supporting a new display technology based on Super AMOLED III. One thing is for sure that if Samsung do decide to include this sensor for the Camera feature on the Samsung Galaxy S3 (SIII) it is going to blow away the competition!
