image23 | Get iPhone 4S Siri Features on Your Android Device [How to]With the recent launch of the iPhone 4S we didn’t witness any significant enhancements to the current generation iPhone 4 as many earlier rumors predicted. In other words, there was no iPhone 5 for us to drool over. But that didn’t mean that iPhone 4S didn’t have anything new. On the hardware front we had a fantastic new 8 megapixel camera and even more importantly a significantly more powerful A5 processor that was inherited from the iPad 2. If we turn our attention to the software front then there is no doubt that star of the show was new Siri virtual assistant exclusive for the iPhone 4S. Although, many users didn’t like the Apple decision to make Siri iPhone 4S exclusive. But now more recently we are hearing that jailbreak and iOS system Modder’s are upping their game to port the Siri to the iPhone 4.

But that was about Siri for the iOS devices what about the Android? – you might ask. Its anticipated that Google is working on a similar feature to the Siri for the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich that is going to be unveiled in a number of days. But if you want to get your hands dirty with something similar right now, there are some apps available in the Android Market that seem very similar to the Siri. Take the example of the Speaktoit Assistant  which is actually a virtual buddy for your Android device that uses natural language technology to answer questions, find information, launch apps and connect you with various web services, such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and many others. The Assistant works with your smartphone to get maps, search for news and images, look up weather reports, convert currency and measurements, send email, and much more. This app is currently in beta and active development. For the time being its not mature enough as the Siri on the iPhone 4S but you can give it a try specially because its available for free. So nothing to loose!
Another similar app that is available in the Android Market is popular Vlingo Virtual Assistant. That has more or less the same features.

Here are the tasks that you can accomplish using the Vlingo Virtual Assistant:

Send texts and emails
Voice dial
Search the web
Find local restaurants, shops and other businesses
Get directions
Update your status on Facebook or Twitter and check in with foursquare
Get answers to just about any question
Buy movie tickets and book hotel rooms
Open other apps
With more in development all the time
