A few days ago we had the news that Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) ROM port is available for the Nexus S although buggy and more in alpha state. And now here is another even more interesting news that there is a ROM port of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) available for download for Samsung galaxy S users. This comes courtesy of XDA members galnet and lttldvl, known MIUI developers. Well for now this ROM that is available for download is in quite broken state and according to developers will not let you get past the lock screen because of the issues with the screen resolution and touch sensors that still need to be fixed (you can get past lock screen using the two fingers or back key and menu key however). In other words, in current state its more for the developers than the users like us.
But if you feel adventurous than download it from the thread at the XDA forums. Flashing procedure is the same as any other ROM such as MIUI or CM through the CWM.
As for the real development effort to kick in for the ROMs such as MIUI and CM we have to wait until the November 17th when Galaxy Nexus will be released and more importantly Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) source code will be available so that developers can start their effort to build custom ROMs for our favorite devices such as Samsung Galaxy S2 (SII)!
