android ice cream sandwich | HTC Sensation, EVO 3D, HTC Amaze 4G to Get Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) Update in Early 2012Now as we know that Google will be releasing the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in just a matter of weeks this month (still no exact release date). Along this we will also get the taste of the Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) for the first time. Soon after the release of the Galaxy Nexus we can expect the release of the source code for the Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) to follow. As the time will pass by different Android device manufacturers will provide a more clear schedule for the roll out of the new updates for their respective Android devices.

Now HTC has released a list of the devices that will get the Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) update for sure in the early 2012 on their Facebook page. This list includes popular devices such as HTC Sensation, HTC EVO 3D, HTC Amaze 4G and some other recently released smartphones. However, this list is not exhaustive as HTC is still assessing the currently released products. Here is the complete list of devices that are expected to get the update:

HTC Vivid
HTC Sensation
HTC Sensation XL
HTC Sensation XE
HTC Rezound
HTC EVO 3D
HTC EVO Design 4G
HTC Amaze 4G

Ice Cream Sandwich is coming in early 2012 to a variety of devices including the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL and HTC Sensation XE, as well as the HTC Rezound*, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G* and HTC Amaze 4G* through close integration with our carrier partners.

We’re continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich.

As you can notice these devices are based on either the Snapdragon S3 or Snapdragon S2 processor but no devices listed with the older Snapdragon S1 processors. So its likely that HTC will not release the Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) update for these older devices. No exact dates have been given so far on when the new Android 4.0 updates will be rolled to these devices but one can expect this to take place in February or March of 2012 at the earliest.
