pwnage tool | Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Untethered & Preserve Baseband (Custom IPSW) on iPhone 4/3GS, iPad 1 Using PwnageTool 5.0.1 – [Mac Guide]Today iPhone Dev Team has released the PwnageTool 5.0.1 that can jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 untethered while preserving the baseband for your iPhone device. So real advantage is that you will retain your current baseband to unlock later on using Ultrasn0w. Please note that PwnageTool is Mac Only! This is NOT the only option as users can also use the latest Redsn0w tool to get untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.0.1 on their iDevice. We have already detailed guides on how to use the Redsn0w for this purpose both in Mac and Windows. In case, you are on Mac and you faced problems with the use of Redsn0w to get untethered jailbreak then use this tool that is Mac exclusive.

Just follow these instructions to do the untethered jailbreak of your iDevice while preserving the baseband on a Mac OS X Using PwnageTool 5.0.1:

Programs required:

Procedure

Step 1: Download the PwnageTool 5.0.1 and iOS 5.0.1 stock firmware and save both of them to the desktop.

Step 2: Next step is to build iOS 5.0.1 custom firmware for which Launch PwnageTool in “expert mode” and select your iDevice which in our case is iPhone 3GS.

Step 3: Locate iOS 5.0.1 which we copied on the desktop in step 1.

Step 4: After selecting the stock firmware/IPSW file click on “Build” button to produce jailbroken custom iOS 5.0.1 ipsw file.

Step 5: Once the custom firmware has been produced you need to go into DFU mode by clicking on DFU button in the PwnageTool.

    Step 6: Launch iTunes application and select your iOS device from the sidebar.

    Step 7: For Windows users press and hold left shift button and for Mac users press and hold “Alt” button on the key while clicking on “restore” button and select Custom iOS 5.0.1 ipsw file which we cooked in step 4.

    Step 8: Final step!, just wait till iTunes finish installing/restoring custom ipsw firmware on your iDevice.

    Step 9: Done & Enjoy Untethered Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 on your iDevice with the preserved baseband for unlocking!
