Hulu is an online service that offers ad-supported on demand streaming services of movies, TV shows, trailer and movie clips etc. This service for the time being is only available to the users from United States and Japan, Hulu provides most of its contents in the flash format usually 288p, 360p, 480p and in some cases HD 720p. Hulu while currently available for Android but it doesn’t support all Android devices and even some well known devices are missing in support. An XDA-Developer blunttedsmurf has modified the Hulu apk file and provided it for all the Android users. In other words this modified apk file makes Hulu working on all Android phones! Best of all it doesn’t even requires the root access! It should be noted as made clear by the developer as well that this app will NOT enable you to access all the paid content on Hulu Plus. For viewing paid contents you still need to get paid subscription but only it makes it compatible with all Android phones out there.

As the title states, I have modded the huluplus.apk to work on any android device. It does not, I repeat does not require root!! YAY!!! No it does not give you free access to hulu plus, you still have to get a paid subscription to view the paid content. But if you don’t have paid subscription, you can still view the free gallery. New notification system in iOS 5 has striking similarity to one that is available on Android for quite some time. Its pitched as one of the key features of the new iOS 5 release due to the fact that it’s a huge improvement over the super annoying popup – on your face notifications system in earlier iOS 4.x releases. A lot has been said and discussed about the Notification Center in the past. Since its introduction a lot of Cydia tweaks has popped up all around the places which adds new custom widgets to the iOS 5 Notification Centre to enhance the functionality and make it even more useful than what it is. I recently discovered an interesting new widget named WeeSpaces for the Notification Center that allows to access the multi-tasking feature of the iOS 5 directly through a custom widget placed in Notification Center instead of usual double-tapping Home button and then switching to the desired application in the background from the list of background running apps that appear at the bottom in a multi-tasking bar. WeeSpaces basically can be used to access Springboard pages or background apps through the scrollable widget. It shows the snapshots of the all the running apps for the user preview when switching.

WeeSpaces widget is available for free and can be downloaded by adding BigBoss repo to the Cydia sources. Of course, you will need to have jailbroken iPhone or any other iDevice on iOS 5 or iOS 5.0.1. Jailbreaking your iPhone or any other iOS device has numerous advantages such as allowing much more flexibility to install all those awesome Cydia tweaks, much more customized/advanced backups, unlocking your iPhone, more recently installing unofficial Siri (on devices older than iPhone 4S!) and so many others to count here. But on the flip side there is some instability compromise you have to make by installing so many Cydia tweaks and apps, in particular the ones that make low-level changes to the iOS. Furthermore, there are some apps on the Apple App Store that will refuse to run if you have a jailbroken iOS device. This can be very frustrating indeed particularly when the device has been jailbroken by the user only for the legal purposes but NOT to do things like installing cracked/illegal apps from third-party sources etc.

If you are in such a situation then don’t need to worry anymore as nice Cydia Tweak going by the name of XCon is available that allows to bypass or unblock the jailbreak detection by these App store apps. How to Change CSC Configuration on Your Samsung Galaxy SII (S2) [Tip]

CSC or consumer software customization is one of the three main software components on your Samsung Galaxy SII device. First being the PDA or firmware that happens to be most visible part to the user. Second is Phone or Modem/baseband that is responsible for the strictly phone related functionality of the device. Third component is CSC which is mainly used for the carrier branding, APN setting used for data connection, carrier branding, MMS functionality for the specific service provider and other region specific software packages. You can change the CSC of your device if you have multi CSC packages installed.

Keep in mind this will wipe your data on the phone. So don’t attempt this procedure before making a backup! Although, I think SDcard data shouldn’t be effected.

Procedure is very simple to follow and is as follows:

1) Find the IMEI# of your Samsung Galaxy S2 device. Just go in to Setting –> About phone –> Status and look for the IMEI# number and note it down.

2) Type *#272*Device IMEI# in the dial pad of your device.

3) Now select the desired CSC.

4) Your device will automatically reboot afterwards.

5) Enjoy!

Please note that I have tested this one on my international version GT-I9100 of Samsung Galaxy SII with the stock firmware installed. This functionality shouldn’t be related to if your phone is rooted or not. Although I have a rooted SGS2 device with SpeedMod kernel installed.

Enable Swipe Multitasking Gestures on iOS 5.0.1 (iPhone, iPod Touch) Using Zephyr [Cydia Tweak]

Zephyr is a very interesting and useful new jailbreak/Cydia tweak by the well-known developer going by the name of chpwn for the iPhone. Basically it’s a swipe based multi-tasking gestures tool that can be very useful if you used to have a lot of apps running in the background on your iPhone and each time you want to access an app, normally you have to double-tap the Home button to bring the app switcher bar at the bottom. With this newly released Cydia tweak Zephyr all that is required is swipe-up gesture at the bottom part of the iPhone screen to access the multi-tasking tray bar. And that’s not all, as you can quickly switch between the running apps as well without accessing the multitasking tray bar. For that, Zephyr integrate the edge-swipe triggered functionality that allows to switch between the running apps (see picture below). This closely resembles to what is already available on the iPad (in iOS 5.0). Also, this part of the functionality of this Cydia tweak is similar to Swipe Multitasking Gestures available on Nokia N9.

So all this tweaking and productivity enhancement on iPhone is good, but how much Zephyr costs? Well, Zephyr is currently available from Cydia store for $2.99. Of course. you will need to first jailbreak your iDevice (iPhone or iPod Touch) to install it. Some time has passed since Apple pushed the final version of the iOS 5.0.1 out of the door, which included a number of important fixes for the iDevice users. Firstly, it fixed the well-known battery draining issues that many iPhone 3GS/4 and iPhone 4S users are experiencing with their devices upgraded to the latest iOS 5. At least this is what Apple claims! Secondly, original iPad 1 users got lucky because Apple has enabled the multi-touch gestures for them in iOS 5.0.1. This features was disabled in the iOS 5.0 for the iPad 1 users but was only available to the iPad 2 users. It’s also mentioned that it fixes the bugs for the documents in the cloud. Finally, it improves the voice recognition for the Australian users.

As we mentioned yesterday, that long awaited untethered jailbreak solution for iDevice users on the iOS 5.0.1 has been finally released by iPhone Dev-Team in the form of Redsn0w update. Although, for now untethered jailbreak solution only works for non Apple A5 devices. More specifically dual-core A5 SoC based devices iPad 2 and iPhone 4S are excluded for now. We already brought you the detailed guides on how to untethered jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch and iPad. In particular, new version of the Redsn0w supports custom firmware creation using baseband preservation mode for users on both Mac and Windows. It means no need to use Sn0wbreeze or P0wnage Tool for this purpose. This baseband preservation mode is useful incase you want to unlock your iPhone in the future using a tool like Ultrasn0w.

- First download the Redsn0w from here (Windows/Mac).

- Launch the application and click on “Extras”

- Now click on “Pwned DFU” and follow the on-screen instructions so limera1n exploit is applied.

- After your device enters the Pwned DFU mode now launch the iTunes and navigate to the iPhone tab and press SHIFT (Option on Mac) and then with the SHIFT (Option on Mac) pressed click on the on the “Restore” button. Now a new dialog will popup from this navigate to the place where the custom iOS 5.0.1 firmware that we created in the previous step is stored and then Select it. Be careful you need to select the custom iOS 5 firmware that was cooked using the Redsn0w and starts with “NO_BB”!

– After selecting the new custom firmware iTunes will begin installing/restoring the iOS 5.0.1 but with the critical feature that the old baseband will be preserved.

– Congrats! You have jailbroken your iPhone 4, iPhone 4 CDMA, iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.0.1 while preserving the baseband of the device.
